A Fantastic Follow Up: Siege and Storm

12 May

In April I reviewed the first book in Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse series. Siege and Storm picks up a few months where Shadow and Bone (book 1) left off; we follow Alina, Mal, and even a few new characters in their efforts to save Ravka.

Book two is just as filled with action as the first one and doesn’t suffer from the second book slog that some trilogies have. Bardugo’s narrative is still just as strong as it was in the first book and her characters as just as full as life as ever.

New to the second book is the introduction of Nikolai and it is easy to see why he has become a fan favorite for those who have already read the series.

One of the aspects many will enjoy about the series is that the antagonist doesn’t linger in the background. He makes frequent appearances and is always in action in one form or another and not made to be a threat to be hidden in the background.

Siege and Storm is a fantastic follow up and is one that will keep readers on the edge of their seats! You can borrow it in print or as an ebook from eLibraryNJ or eBCCLS.

Stay tuned for next month’s review of the final novel in the trilogy!
