Run out of things to stream? Looking for your next binge worthy show? You may remember I previously polled our staff about their favorite movies. This time I wanted to see what their favorite shows to watch on TV are. You can borrow them on DVD from Hoboken or other BCCLS libraries.
The Big Bang Theory
Michelle Valle one of our circulation assistants said, “The Big Bang Theory is hysterical; it is a smart comedy about a group of friends.”
Keeping Up Appearances
Reference Librarian Lindsay loves the British comedy, Keeping Up Appearances. She also loves Community and the Golden Girls. These three comedies will make you feel good no matter what mood you are in!
The Wire
Head of Adult Programming, Heidi Schwab, said, “The Wire is the Best TV show ever made!”
Bull
Circulation Assistant, Donna, enjoys Bull because it has “a different story every week!”
Star Trek and Deep Space Nine
Jade Mapp, our new literacy coordinator, picked the Star Trek series due to their ongoing storyline that is always featuring new expeditions. She enjoys the show’s diversity, exploration, strong female characters and teaching of values. Jade loved all the Trek series, but Reference Assistant Sacha Chavez singled out Deep Space Nine which he felt showed how people worked to forage their own policy and make things work. He felt the stories often reflected on society at the time and are still relevant to today. Also be sure to check out The Next Generation, Voyager, and Discovery.
Game of Thrones
Mihaela Colibasu in circulation said Game of Thrones is “unpredictable, unexpected, and there is a surprise in every episode!”
The Sopranos
Ashley Hoffman our Children’s librarian chose The Sopranos due to it having the best character development of any TV show. Ashley also shared Lost in support of her fiancé’s favorite.
Our head of Marketing Mark Curiale seconded The Sopranos sharing that it reminded him of some of his relatives. Community Outreach Specialist, Laura Knittel couldn’t pick just one though listing Criminal Minds, Honeymooners, and I Love Lucy as just a few of her favorites.

Pushing Daisies
I’ve written about a lot of my favorites like Murdoch Mysteries and Bones in previous posts, but one of my favorite funny fantastical, whimsical dramedy mystery has to be Pushing Daisies featuring the amazing Kristin Chenoweth as part of the cast. The series didn’t last nearly as long as I would have liked, but its story book ending wrapped things up sufficiently in my book.
